Fair Dealing Week, Feb. 24 to Feb. 28, is a Canada-wide initiative intended to promote awareness and discussion of copyright issues affecting academic staff and students. The recent trade deal with the United States and Mexico has made copyright extension an imminent possibility. Copyright extension will have the effect of shrinking works in the public domain and restricting content. It is essential to both protect and enhance fair dealing. Fair Dealing Week promotes the benefits of a balanced Copyright Act for users, creators, educators and students.
Please refer to the CAUT’s Resources page for more in depth information on copyright and fair dealing.
Members are encouraged to attend Fair Dealing Week events being held at UNB Libraries during the week of Feb. 25 through 27.
