AUNBT joins other Canadian university faculty associations in expressing solidarity with the Wet’suwet’en Nation and its Hereditary Chiefs in their insistence on respect for their sovereignty over their unceded territory.  We urge the federal and provincial governments involved to avoid forceful intervention and to engage in nation-to-nation dialogue that upholds Indigenous rights that have been articulated in the Constitution, court rulings, and the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.

Students of St. Thomas University will be hosting a rally to stand in solidarity with Wet’suwet’en. The rally will begin on Thursday February 27th at 12PM at STU in the upper courtyard between Brian Mulroney and Margaret Norrie McCain Hall.
