On behalf of the Association of University of New Brunswick Teachers (AUNBT), I am writing to express our unwavering solidarity with Unifor 4504 and its approximately 365 members in SALAC (Secretarial, Accounting, Library Assistants, and Clerks) and GLTA (tradespeople, labourers, cleaners, audio visual and security) as you enter the conciliation process with UNB Administration.
AUNBT members recognize that the strength of our university relies entirely on the dedicated workforce that keeps it running every day. The work of Unifor 4504 members supports students’ learning and faculty teaching and research in a myriad of ways: from organizing the essential underpinnings of academic programming to ensuring people are paid to helping students and teachers check out their library books to contributing to attractive, functioning, and safe spaces on our campuses. A fair, stable, and equitable workplace for Unifor 4504 members is essential to the well-being of the entire university community.
AUNBT strongly urges university administration to approach this conciliation process with a genuine commitment to reaching a fair and respectful collective agreement – one that truly values the vital contributions of Unifor 4504 members.
We stand ready to support Unifor 4504 in the weeks ahead, and wish them a successful and just outcome at the bargaining table.
In solidarity,
Adam Wilson
AUNBT President
